The Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems (SMoCS) Laboratory, led by Dr. Sumanta Basu, is a part of the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Cornell University.
At SMoCS Lab, we develop cutting-edge statistical and machine learning methods to model, analyze, and predict complex, high-dimensional systems. Our research spans theoretical advancements in network modeling, structure learning, and predictive analytics, with applications in biological, social, and financial sciences.
We collaborate with scientists, economists, and researchers from diverse disciplines to tackle real-world challenges, from understanding brain connectivity to monitoring systemic financial risks. Explore our research, meet our team, and learn how statistical modeling drives discovery in complex systems!
